Campaigns Imminent: Holland & Barrett taps FCB Inferno for digital without a pitch

Opportunity: Tapped FCB Inferno without a pitch to handle its digital business. The agency hire comes ahead of the October launch of a new e-commerce platform and click-and-collect offering as part of H&B's new digital and content-led strategy. Late last year, H&B re-emphasised plans to become a £1bn turnover company by 2020 and said there'd be a continued investment in global growth, new products and the online shopping experience.

Incumbent: H&B's above-the-line agency Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R previously handled this type of work and will still handle other media spend.
Media Spend: Spent £14m last year, up slightly from 2014, according to Nielsen. The majority of this was allocated to TV, with direct mail and press taking more than £4m. Digital is also included.
Target Audience: The company wants to raise awareness among health-conscience Millennials, Gen X and Gen Y who are focused on well-being and wellness products, a space that is rapidly growing across the globe.
At the same time, Superboomers are liberated by wealth, health and technology and currently make up 75% of the UK's wealth. The generation typically responds to advertising talking about these major topics, particularly health.
Digital Breakdown: So far this year, H&B has run 52 standard display ads with 187 publishers, according to Moat. Of those, three per cent were published site-direct versus programmatic. Top display destinations included viralnova.com, companycheck.co.uk, owlstalk.co.uk and mailonsunday.co.uk. The retailer also ran 46 high impacts.
During the same period last year, H&B ran eight standard ads with 177 publishers. Of those, 45% were published site-direct and top destinations included monster.co.uk, hiphopstan.com and itv.com. H&B also ran three video ads last year.
