Q4 Digital Opps: HMV appoints R.O.EYE to aim for niche movie fans

Opportunity: The former vulnerable account has appointed R.O.EYE as its digital marketing agency to target niche online fan communities. The goal is to promote HMV 'Steelbook' exclusives which are new releases and re-released classic films in specially designed tins that feature bonus footage.
The company will focus on popular franchises such as Harry Potter and Star Wars and will reach out through social media channels Twitter and Facebook to engage dedicated fans. R.O.EYE will also lock down demographics to put the right releases in front of consumers. Online/social media sellers should entertain the company by pitching high ROIs through millennial concentration.
This is a sign of digital emphasis to come. Pathmatics is showing a significant increase from last year, in both video and desktop. Digital Breakdown: Per Pathmatics, since January, HMV has spent £200k on desktop ads which gained 87.9m impressions. Of those, the majority were published through ad networks and top publishing sites include ebay.co.uk, independent.co.uk, discogs.com and nexusmods.com. The chart to the right details further the spending shares. Meanwhile, £17k was spent to gain 1.5m impressions.
Compared to year-to-date 2015, this is a significant increase. During this time, only 618k impressions were gained from spending £12.9k on desktop ads.
