Digital, TV Opps: Electronic Arts reviews global advertising, boosts digital

Media Spend: In 2015, Nielsen data shows that the gaming company spent £5 million on media channels including TV (£3.8m), digital, cinema and press. H1 2016 saw similar spending. During this time, £1.8m was spent and digital and TV saw the most emphasis.

Marketplace: According Newzoo statics and Nesta research, the global games market is expected to reach £79.7 billion by 2018. The UK games industry is the 6th largest in the market with over 1,900 video game companies and last year generated £4.2bn in consumer spend in 2015, up 7.4% from 2014. Research also found the importance of mobile gaming and apps is growing.

Digital Breakdown: Pathmatics reports, over £20m was spent on desktop and video ads that gained a whopping 1.2bn impressions last year. This was down from the year before as totals were around £7.1m. Of those from 2016, 89 per cent were placed site direct and top publishers included amazon.co.uk, youtube.com, wikia.com and gamefaqs.com.
