Social, Sponsorship Opps: Cancer Research UK taps W to promote World Cancer Day

Last year, the charity made several agency shifts (listed below) so expect marketing to roll out in full force. Digital has remained consistent the past two years. Pathmatics reports peaks in Q1 and Q4.

Media Spend: In H1 2016, Cancer Research UK spent £2.4m on TV and another £1.4m was spread across outdoor, press, radio and digital.
Digital Breakdown: Last year, Cancer Research spent £1.8m on desktop ads and £911k on video ads which generated a total of 180m impressions, according to Pathmatics. The majority were placed site direct and top publishing sites include youtube.com, dailymail.co.uk, gumtree.com and msn.com.
This is a change in strategy compared to 2015. During this time, £2.4k was spent on desktop ads that gained 214m impressions. They were able to nab greater impressions this year due to greater Q1 emphasis as well as H2. Unlike 2016, when peaks only occurred in H2.
