Still Imminent: Burberry taps global director of digital marketing to weave in millennials

Opportunity: Promoted Ms Alice Delahunt to global director of digital marketing to oversee global social media strategies and a digital marketing team. The vulnerable account has been on DV's radar for a while and this is just the latest in executive hires.
Recently, following 2015 struggles, Burberry appointed Mr Marco Gobbetti as CEO, set to take over early next year. The company seems to be rebuilding its infrastructure ahead of this leadership change so they can cover the UK in a sea of plaid come 2017. Digital is still going to be front and centre of its marketing strategy, sellers. Those in luxury fashion should reach out immediately, as Burberry tries to lead its iconic brand back into millennial limelight.
Note, the luxury fashion retailer has the overarching goal to deliver at least £100 million of annualised cost savings by 2019, up from about £20 million this year.

Experience: Delahunt has been with Burberry since 2011 when she joined as the global social media coordinator and has been climbing the digital ladder from the beginning. Before Burberry, she worked for JWT. Her specialties include social media, integrated, strategy, communications, fashion, luxury and advertising.
Media Spend: In 2015, over £8.4 million was spent on media across outdoor, press, TV, digital and cinema and this year is seeing spending across similar channels. Peak spending occurs in Q1 ahead of spring and summer and Q4 during the holidays.
Digital Breakdown: Moat reports that Burberry ran 176 display ads on 225 publishers last year, with 9% mobile. Top ad destinations included redbookmag.com, vogue.com, marieclaire.com and vanityfair.com, with only 25% placed site direct versus programmatically. The company also ran 204 high impact ads and four video ads. For comparison, in 2014 95 display ads were run on 397 publishers. 173 high impact ads were also run this year. News, style and fashion and business are the top publishing categories.
