Campaign Imminent: Carpetright reviews creative to carry new strategy

Opportunity: Different Advertising, according to TLO. Twenty20 Media Vision previously held the £8m non-broadcast media and creative accounts for Carpetright and Sleep­right brands. Mediacom UK currently handles the media account.

Media Spend: Increased 12% in 2013 to £9.89 million, compared to £8.9m in 2012. Last year, the company spent the most in TV, Press and Radio, a common trend in the last three years.

Further Insight: Carpetright’s UK like-for-like sales increased 7.5% in the 13 weeks to 24 Jan. 2015. Total sales increased 6.6%. Full year guidance of a decline in gross profit percentage of between 100 and 150 basis points remains unchanged.

“In the UK our continued focus on effective promotional activity and the introduction of an interest free credit offer from Boxing Day has delivered a like-for-like performance slightly ahead of the level experienced in the first half,” said CEO Wilf Walsh.

“We believe that, with a well researched and well executed strategy, we can begin to reshape Carpetright to ensure the business fully capitalises on its market leading position. These changes will take time to take full effect but we are absolutely focused on maintaining the recent improvements in the performance of the Group, as well as devoting our energies to revitalising our brand and operations in line with contemporary customer expectations. As a team we are excited by the potential that exists and are concentrating hard on execution of this new strategy as we enter 2015.”
