This appointment coincides with EY’s move to bolster its UK & Ireland Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services (FIDS) team as it is forecast to see record growth and hit the £100m mark this year. Also in January, EY announced its first major sponsorship deal in Scotland with the Scottish National Gallery (SNG).

Digital Breakdown: EY ran 112 standard display ads last year, 66% of which were run publisher-direct. The brand also ran two high impact and three video ads, according to Moat UK. There was a total of 195 destinations, one per cent of which were mobile. Top destinations included ft.com, exec-appointments.com, thestudentroom.co.uk, legalweek.com and efinancialcareers.co.uk.
Display ads were most prominent during the first two months of the year, which was the opposite to mobile and video ads that had higher daily activity in the last two months of the year.
The year before, EY ran just 15 more display ads but they appeared on a third more destinations, seven per cent of which were mobile and most of them were the same as 2015.
Competition: EY is one of the “Big Four” accountancy giants. The others are KPMG.
While all of these accountants use sponsorship (mostly sports-related) to advertising to large audiences, KPMG has recently been ramping up its social and digital marketing.
Media Spend: In 2014, EY increased media spend by 45% from 2013, spending a total of £3.6m, mainly in press.
