Q3 Opps: Danepak returns to TV with Isobel's spots about bacon
Subject: Social, Viral, Online, TV, Digital.
Brand: Tulip, owned by the Danish Crown group.
Opportunity: After a two year halt in TV advertising, Danepak has returned with two 30-sec ads promoting bacon dedication which should give ad sellers a hint of more to come.
Danepak has significantly invested in bacon with new reclosable packaging and new product developments like microwavable Rapid Rashers and bacon with 30 per cent less salt. Isobel, which has had the account since Oct 2014, has also curated a series of bespoke digital ads set to roll out immediately. They include a partnership with vlogger Dave Hax who creates popular how-to vlogs for people to try at home.
earlier this year. Look for an increase in TV and digital later this year, particularly Q3, as Danepak uses multiple channels to share the bacon love with both young and old demographics. Sellers in family and male-centric markets should reach out now to pick up those extra ad pounds, and we don’t mean from all the bacon you’ll eat.
Media Spend: The Danpak media buying account is estimated to be worth at least £1m. Tulip historically splits spend across TV, outdoor and press, while the bacon brand has recently ramped up radio, social and online spend.
Competition: Karro Food Group and Underwood Meat Company are its biggest rivals but neither is promoting bacon this heavily.
Target Demographic: Mr Rob Hoare, the group commercial and marketing director at Tulip said, ”We know that the UK loves bacon as much as we do, but in a market where many Brits believe bacon is just bacon, we really needed to showcase our commitment, personality and passion.”
