Future Opp Update: Co-op Bank decides on potential CEO successor

Opportunity: Has chosen Liam Coleman, most recently a director of retail and commercial banking, as the new deputy chief executive to eventually succeed Niall Booker as he will be conditioned over the next several months.
Earlier this year the bank appointed myclever Agency for integrated social media activity. The bank, which could remain loss-making for several years to come, is still pushing a five-year turnaround plan, despite several senior executive scandals after the 2013 £1.5bn crisis. Q4 is by far its highest spending period, but keep in mind that the bank increased Q2 and Q3 spending significantly last year.
Desperate for a turnaround, the struggling business' new boss will likely spark an agency roster overhaul, so agency readers should stay tuned.

Media Spend: The bank increased media spend by +153% in 2014, going from £2.4m in 2013 to £6.2m, driven largely by TV, cinema and door drop spending. In the first three quarters of 2015, Co-Op Bank nearly doubled TV ad spend, which increasing press spending as well.
Digital Breakdown: Per Moat, The Co-operative Bank has run 42 standard display ads with 234 ad destinations in the past 12 months. Of those, 11% were run site-direct compared to programmatic. Top ad destiantions included reed.co.uk, forbes.com and nation.co.ke. In addition, the bank ran three video ads.
In the 12 months dating back from March 2015, 31 standard ads appeared on 518 publishers, 6% of which ran site-direct.
Agency Roster: signed a contract with the Manchester-based digital marketing agency theEword to have them handle the bank's SEO and content marketing for the year.
