Millennial, TV Opps: American Horror Story Season 6 preps for UK launch just in time for Halloween

Show: "American Horror Story" is an original US TV sci-fi horror miniseries where each season is conceived as a self-contained storyline but often uses some of the same cast. The show is developed for 21st Century Fox’s international multi-media business Fox International Channels (FIC).
Opportunity: The miniseries is set to debut its sixth season this October, so sellers across ATL outlets, as well as digital, should go after imminent campaign pounds ahead. Prep for a marketing boost in the next few months targeting millennials, horror-fans and female viewers.
Havas Media. With a June-ending fiscal year, the company is currently in the middle of strategic planning and forming marketing budgets for FY17. The decision is set to be finalised this month so keep up with this growing opportunity, as networks spotlight autumn/winter launches.
Note, FIC underwent leadership changes early this year and began skewing marketing towards women through digital and social media channels. Moat has yet to show ads for "American Horror Season 6", but the network has previously increased digital for this highly anticipated popular show and this year will be no different.
Marketing Strategy: Targets the 18-49 demo, using broadcast sponsorship, experiential marketing, editorial partnerships, traditional TV, online advertising and social media efforts to expand global and local reach. Fox's in-house creative team relies on consumer loyalty and engagement and drives this by using the emotional-appeal of its audience to drive long-term ROI. Fox's brand portfolio is structured under four key programming pillars: Entertainment, Factual, Sports and Lifestyle.
Media Spend: According to Nielsen data, 21st Century Fox spent over £10,7m on TV and outdoor, with some devoted to press, radio and digital. Early 2016 is seeing similar spending with more put towards TV and outdoor. Peak spending occurs Q1 and Q2.
Digital Breakdown: In the last 12 months, according to Moat, Fox Broadcasting has run 256 standard ads on 395 publishers. With practically only half placed site direct versus programmatically, top publishing sites included foxnews.com, foxbusiness.com and ufc.com. 96 high impact ads and 42 video ads were also published during this time.
This is a different strategy from year-to-date 2014, when 379 ads were run on 729 publishers (8% mobile). Interestingly, only 34 high impact ads and 13 video ads were published during that period.
