Campaign Imminent: The Open University taps Lida for creative

Opportunity: Following a Lida for creative. The agency will help develop a “customer-driven strategy” for The Open University’s fundraising and new student attraction activity. Sellers should go after marketing pounds ahead of the campaign launch next month 

Following a decline in digital advertising activity last year, OU's unveiled the“Life Changing Learning” campaign. It ran across TV, print, radio and digital (display and video). Sellers focused on careers, education, entertainment and sports will have an advantage. Rapp oversees CRM.

Target Audience: Over 75% of OU students work full or part-time during their studies, while the average age of new undergraduate OU students is 29. Only 9% of new students are over 50 and 30% of new OU undergraduates are under 25.

OpenLearn, a free learning resources website from the OU, has had 33.7 million visits since its launch in 2006. The site averages 350,000 unique visitors a month and has around 11,000 hours of learning materials including 8,000 hours taken from our undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

Digital Breakdown: Per Moat UK, OU ran 68 standard display ads with 741 publishers, 2% of which were mobile, last year. Of those, 20% were run publisher-direct with top ad destiantions including,, and In addition, OU ran 19 high impact ads and three video ads. 

In comparison, in 2014, OU ran 122 standard display ads with 1,742 publishers, mostly on news and arts/entertainment publishers.
