Q4 Campaign Imminent: Sony's Bravia TV seeks per-project EU creative for push

Brand: Bravia TV by Sony 

Opportunity: The electronics giant is preparing for its EU launch of the new Bravia TV products and has scheduled a creative pitch for September to appoint a per-project agency, according to Campaign

The new Bravia 4K HDR television series will be available in 5 series and 10 models, available from major UK and Irish retailers. The brand will need to raise awareness of 4k among those that are familiar with HD.

Sellers should look for TV, cinema, in-store, PR and digital activity to be part of the strategy. Q4 is Sony's biggest spending period, so sellers should be all over this. MediaCom handles media planning and buying.

Incumbent: Fallon London was behind the initial 2005 launch of the Bravia brand. More recently, DDB Germany, Adam & Eve/DDB and McCann London have handled creative. 

Media Spend: Sony Europe spent £5m last year, down from £8.5m spent in 2014. TV, press, cinema, radio and digital are the main pillars. Sony Computer Games spent £8.5m last year, down from £17m in 2014. The PlayStation arm of the electronics giant relies more on outdoor and TV than anything else. 

Digital Breakdown: Per Moat, Sony as a whole has run 357 standard display ads with 1,332 publishers (<1% mobile) so far this year. Of those, 55% were published site-direct versus programmatic. Top display ad destinations overall included, and In addition, Sony has run seven high impacts and eight video ads (all programmatic). 

During the same period last year, Sony ran 182 standard ads with 557 publishers (4% mobile). Of those, 55% were published site-direct on sites such as, and In addition, Sony ran 117 high impacts and 11 video ads.
