Campaign Imminent: Acer changes EMEA leadership ahead of new global creative hire

Subject: Cinema, Digital, TV, Door Drop, Global Creative

Company: Acer

Decision Makers:  Luca Rossi resigned as president of EMEA at the end of 2014, after less than 6 months in the position and Emmanuel Fromont has taken over his role in the EMEA from his post as Pan-America operations president. The management changes come at a time when Acer is increasing its momentum. (research here)

Emmanuel Fromont joined Acer in 2008 as Vice President of Acer EMEA's Packard Bell division and delivered strong sales growth. Prior to joining Acer, Mr. Fromont served as Packard Bell's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Vice President of the company's Mobility Business Unit. He also has extensive experience in outsourcing from positions held at Hewlett-Packard in the US and IBM Global Services in France. Mr. Fromont was born in 1967.

In July, Luca Rossi was appointed as the new President, in a restructure of its EMEA division, to succeed Oliver Ahrens who has departed the company. Founder George Huang was announced to succeed Stan Shih as a new chairman.

Account in Review: In Mother London is the incumbent and ZenithOptimedia handles the media account.

EMEA Leader & Growth: Acer retains its position as number one DLP Brand in EMEA for the 23th consecutive quarter. According Q3 market-share results for projectors in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Acer remains the leading brand with 16.4% market-share across the entire region.

In both EMEA and Western Europe, Acer ranks among the top 3 for total PCs and portable PCs shipments. In the latter region, Acer achieved the highest year-on-year growth rates among the top 5 players in both categories. Acer believes it has the right organization at this time to continue its growing momentum.

During Q3, Acer saw consolidated revenue decrease by 7% year-on-year but increase 5.3% quarter-on-quarter, marking the third straight profitable quarter.   According to IDC's Q3 2014 data for PCs worldwide, Acer grew 13.3% YoY in shipments in contrast to the overall industry decline of 0.5%. The achievement in Q3 was the result of a good product mix, new product announcements and back-to-school demand. In Q4 Acer expects the seasonal promotions among its regions to continue the steady growth momentum.

Media Spend: Acer spent £2.10m in total measured media last year, according to Nielsen.
