TV, Digital, Sponsorship Opps: Continental Tyre continues higher spending

Opportunity: Hopefully sellers were listening when we said the tyre brand would increase online, outdoor, experiential and TV ad spend this year. If not, now you know that the brand is serious about spring/summer and winter spending and will be spending even more now that it has been awarded Superbrand status in the UK. 

Not to worry because there's at least £34k left to pick up on digital this year if Continental follows what it spent last Q4. However, it's likely to be much more this year. Online sellers should note that this Q2 saw a surge in desktop, mobile and video advertising, making up the majority of the first three quarters' £78k budget. This was up year-on-year from £22k spent in 2015 during the first three quarters.

Media Spend: According to Nielsen, Continental spent £675k in 2013 and only £389k in 2014 and £282k in 2015. However, with plans to launch in TV this year, which the company has been away from since before 2012, this is likely to go back into the millions in 2016. Spending has also increased this year due to football sponsorships with St George's Park, ContiWarmUp, FA Women's Super League and more. Other partnerships this year included 24h Conti Thunder Run 2017, RideLondon 2016 and Mercedes-Benz World.
