ATL, Digital Opps: Dockers Europe steals Perry Ellis boss as its own

Opportunity: At the very end of the year, Francisco Gonzalez-Meza Hoffmann left Perry Ellis International to become Dockers Europe’s general manager, based in London. A new boss often leads to new marketing strategies, a reallocation of budgets and even new decision makers. Stay tuned to see how he uses his experience growing an international clothing brand to transform Dockers’ European presence.
Experience: Most recently, he was the managing director for Perry Ellis International based in London for over four years. As the boss of Perry Ellis, he saw P&L grow from £19m to 50m during a five-year period. Prior to that, he was their SVP of international business and VP of strategic initiatives and investor relations in the five years before becoming the MD. Before joining Perry Ellis in March 2006, he worked for some big names such as Siemens, Microsoft and GE.
Perry Ellis recently said they wanted to “significantly” increase sales in Europe and expand travel locks into making up 30% of the Perry Ellis brand line, supported by both digital and traditional marketing.
Media Spend: Levi Strauss spent a total of £1.6m in measure media during 2014, according to Nielsen. This was a nearly 98% increase year-over-year compared to 2013. The highest spending goes towards TV, cinema, press and outdoor.
Digital: According to Moat UK, Dockers ran 15 standard display, 14 high impact and two video ads last year (1 Jan – 16 Dec. 2015). Of the display ads run, 54% were done so publisher-direct, as opposed to programmatic. There was a total of 10 destinations, 25% of them mobile (compared to only 1% the year before). The top destinations were maxpreps.com, shortlist.com, variety.com, tflgov.uk and amazon.com.
Levi’s ran 67 standard, 26 high impact and 15 video ads during the same period. 19% of the display ads were run publisher-direct and there was a total of 404 destinations (1% mobile).
