This comes on the heels of a total marketing restructure earlier last year as part of plans to to bring in 42 million international visitors by 2020.

This January, the tourism body welcomed Clare Mullin as marketing director, so further agency shifts could occur later down the line. We suggest readers keep her on your radar if you've yet to win new business as the tourism body tends to bring on several per-projects. Carat London handles media planning and buying.

Experience: Ms l joined after some time in India as a board member for The American Embassy School. Prior to that, she was the brand and marketing director for The National Trust for nearly four years. She spent 11 years at Dyson before that, latterly as group marketing director. 

Target Audience: You can see in the table to the right who the tourism body targets, broken down into three groups. 

Media Spend: VisitEngland spent £404k during the first half of last year, mostly in press with support on radio, outdoor and online. 

Digital Breakdown: Visit Britain spent £96k on digital channels last year, according to Pathmatics. This was up significantly from just £9k spent the year before. Most activity took place before April on desktop, while 97% of spend share was site-direct. Top destinations were telegraph.co.uk, answers.com, hotels.com and standard.co.uk.
