Sponsorship, TV Opps: PHD scores IRN-BRU a two-year deal with Soccer AM

IRN-BRU, soft drink brand of PHD sparked a two-year deal with Soccer AM. The brand is hoping their new low-calorie version drink might do well within the country's football fandom.

This isn't the first time IRN-BRU has leaned on sponsorship. In 2015, the beverage brand landed a deal with the Football League, kicked off a profit loss.

Nielsen data shows the effect the struggle had on marketing last year. Digital and TV sellers should target summer/Q3 revenue opps as IRN-BRU goes after millennial and Gen-Y men.

The "Football Sponsor with Balls" campaign will run across TV sponsorship, digital and earned media, along with Sky Go options.

Additional Information

Media Spend: In 2015, AG Barr spent over £5m, mostly on TV, with £2m being spread across cinema, outdoor, press, door drop, radio and digital. Last H1, Nielsen data shows that spending dropped significantly, particularly with TV, for a total of £564k.

Competitors: Those recently rocking marketing include PepsiCo are likely to spend mid-year.
