Campaign Imminent: Kuoni Travel hires head creative agency exec as its head marketer
Opportunity: Digital, TV, Door Drop, Outdoor, LGBT, Women, Weddings.
Company: Kuoni Travel UK (Winmo) specialises in luxury and tailor made holidays to destinations including Maldives, Thailand, Kenya, Switzerland and Italy.
Opportunity: Hired Dean Harvey as marketing director, in an effort to bolster the brand’s online presence. Mr Harvey joins from just reappointed as its head creative. He says the brand will be “focused on creating and delivering stand-out campaigns and effective marketing that will attract new and existing customers to our stunning collection of holidays.”
Furthermore, Kuoni plans to double the staff of its LGBT experts in an effort to drive sales among gay and lesbian couples, particularly winning over their honeymoon business, after seeing this business grow 279% over the last five years. (research here). Therefore, LGBT focused sellers should have an edge securing revenue here.
Q1 and Q4 have historically been the travel company's top spending periods, but note that last year Kuoni spent last year driving women-facing digital ads in Q1 and Q3. MEC United Kingdom continues to handle media planning and buying.

Account on the Move: Reappointed creative and digital agency the account in late 2014.
Media Spend: Increased media spend in 2014 to £1.6m, split mainly between TV and press.
Digital Breakdown: Last year, Kuoni ran 24 standard display ads with 143 publishers. Of those ads, 27% were run site-direct with top ad destinations including bridesmagazine.co.uk, youandyourwedding.co.uk and skylinewebcams.com. In addition, the travel company ran 19 high impact ads.
