cAs UK consumers continue to engage more heavily on mobile, companies have had to adjust their advertising and outreach in order to keep up with the digital evolution.

Take-up of smartphones has continued to increase, with half of all adults now claiming to own one, according to Ofcom Communications Market Report 2013.

Ofcom's report gave a detailed analysis of UK media usage and found that 81% Tablet owners significantly more likely than average to multi-task with other media while watching TV.

Following Group M’s display advertising expectations to reach £1bn in 2014, WinmoEdge asked the experts how the rise of tablet-use and media multi-tasking will affect 2014’s media-buying strategy.

BAI (UK) Ltd Head of Marketing Richard Price spoke about evaluating engagement:

"For the past few years, there has been a noticeable shift in search for our brand and web traffic coming via tablets and smartphones, with spikes immediately after Christmas (a time when lots of new appliances are bought).

bNo doubt this will continue as the range of these tablets increases and the costs decrease.

Better understanding the relationship between various channels will obviously be a great benefit to organisations & marketers – as it will enable better evaluation of engagement & help prompt customer/brand & customer/customer dialogue."
