TV, Digital Opps: Chicco to launch prime time TV campaign ahead of key gifting period

Company: Chicco is the largest baby brand in Europe, owned by Artsana UK & Ireland.

Opportunity: Launching a series of TV adverts in H2 to promote its Fit n Fun product line in an effort to increase awareness ahead of the key gifting season. Specifically, the brand is launching a three-week 20-sec. and 10-sec campaign next month on children’s TV channels, including CiTV, Milkshake, Nick JR, NickToon, TinyPop, Boom and Cartoonit.

This will be supported by social media, in-store displays and digital advertising. Sellers - if you missed this opportunity, start reaching out ahead of another planned push in late 2016 to promote new lines Robo Chicco, Rodeo, Happy Shopper and Disney Princess Cinderella Carriage. The retailer is also planning for a 2017 push targeting new mums .

Note that digital activity has plummeted in the last six months but should go back up in the run up to the end of the year festive season. The brand also participates in sponsorship activity. Media planning and buying is handled in-house.

Digital Breakdown: So far this year, Chicco has run 16 standard ads with 12 publishers. Of those, 31% were published site-direct versus programmatic. Top destinations were toysrus.com, amazon.com and babycentre.co.uk.

In comparison, the brand ran nine standard ads with 205 publishers during the same period last year. Of those, 15% were published site-direct. Then, top destinations were target.com, dcurbanmom.com and sky.com.

Target Audience: Middle to high income, luxury mums, families from the start of pregnancy through to childhood. Note that families tend to spend much more on the first child.
