E & J Gallo targets millennials with multi-million pound campaign launch
Company: E & J Gallo Winery.
Opportunity: E&J Gallo has launched a new multi-million pound integrated marketing campaign in the UK for its New Amsterdam Vodka brand in hopes to generate the same consumer response the brand currently sees in the US market. Targeting millennials (we three times), the “It’s Your Town” campaign shows up on TV, digital, outdoor, PR, social media, sampling and trade marketing channels.
The campaign will target key sports events such as the Rugby World Cup 2015, hoping to win over influencers to spark an experience millennials can connect to, instead of just a new vodka to try.
This follows a sampling campaign launched earlier this month for the Apothic Red wine brand, in which we told you to watch this space. Next brand to see campaign activity will have to be E&J Brandy and there’s a possibility it things go well with the vodka, E & J Gallo may launch its New Amsterdam Gin into the UK next. Regardless, expect experiential, digital and sponsorship activity to remain a key focus for the company moving forward.
Media Spend: The winery spent £0.38m last year, 33% more than 2013 (£0.29m), according to Nielsen. In 2012, media spend totaled £630,286.
