Campaign Imminent: Continental Tyre puts The Moment in charge of creative

Opportunity: Appointed The Moment to handle creative for a campaign slated to take place throughout the UEFA Euro 2016 football championships. Featuring TV buys for the first time since 2012, the campaign will also include online, outdoor, social media, and experiential elements. Therefore, continue to go after traditional and digital ad dollars tied to spring/summer and winter.
Incumbent: Palmer Hargreaves previously held the account and was part of the competitive pitch.
Media Spend: According to Nielsen, Continental spent £675k in 2013 and only £208k in 2014. However, with plans to launch in TV this year, which the company has been away from since before 2012, this is likely to go back into the millions in 2016.
Digital Breakdown: Continental ran 48 standard display ads last year, 50% of which were run publisher-direct. These ads, which was 40 more than what was run in 2014, showed up on 530 destinations (compared to 432 in 2014) with top ones including goduke.com, uefa.com, fourfourtwo.com and motortrend.com.
These display ads were in addition to five video ads, 132 high impact digital ads (billboard, standard and skin) on TechRadar last October and 17 high impact ads on GamesRadar, Garden Guides and MLS Soccer in May, September and December. Top publishers were sports, news and automotive-related, with the video ads finding their way to health and fitness publishers in April and May last year.
Out of the competitors listed below, Michelin had the strongest share of voice last year, double what Continental had mostly due to running a significant amount more video ads.
