Company: Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), is the world’s leading museum of art and design.

Opportunity: Appointed Ms Kathryn Havelock to deputy head of marketing to lend support to longtime veteran Head of Marketing Jane Rosier. She'll also lead the campaign strategy and the team of three marketing managers and a social media executive.

This could be just added support or it could indicate a larger shift to come. Ms Rosier could also be grooming Ms Havelock as a replacement after 14 years at the helm. Only time will tell. Note Ms Havelock's vast digital experience so this could be the next focus. Sellers should reach out now as the V&A was named Museum of the Year and given the Art Fund MOTY 2016 award this year and could see an influx of traffic.

Media and digital agencies in particular should keep an eye out for opportunities come 2017 and expect strategy shifts and possible additional support.

Experience: Ms Havelock has been in marketing since 2004 when she started as a marketing assistant for the The British Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, The London Eye and SEA LIFE London Aquarium and Art History UK. Her specialties include digital marketing and strategy, online, email, social media, SEO and event management.

Media Spend: Last year, V&A spent over £223k on media primarily across outdoor and press with some devoted to digital and radio. This was a major decline from nearly £1m spent in 2014 with a big outdoor, digital and TV push. Early 2016 saw similar spending with some even put towards cinema. 

Digital Breakdown: In the last 12 months, according to Moat, 12 standard ads on 66 publishers with only 20 per cent placed site direct. Top publishers include telegraph.co.uk, imgur.com, goodhousekeeping.co.uk and theguardian.com. 13 high impact ads were also run during this time. This is slightly down from year-to-date 2014 when 12 ads were run on 249 publishers.

Target Market: Culture and art enthusiasts looking to keep up with recent exhibits.
